Ultem / PEI
(Polyetherimide)
Ultem (PEI -- Polyetherimide) is the reference material in the aerospace industry for 3D printing. Approved by the FAA for aircraft cabin certification (Ultem 9085), it meets the world's strictest flame, smoke and toxicity resistance requirements.
There are two main grades: Ultem 1010, which is biocompatible and food/medical grade, and Ultem 9085, which is certified for aerospace applications. Both offer excellent heat resistance (up to 210 degrees Celsius) and high rigidity.
At O&D 3D Printing, we print the Ultem on our INTAMSYS Funmat HT for clients in the aerospace, defense and medical sectors.
