ToolDance X1

CNC

The ToolDance X1 is an enclosed desktop CNC milling machine combining a stated 1.5 kW spindle rating, automatic tool changing, and an expandable machining platform. It is designed to machine a range of metals and non-metal materials in a compact format suited to workshops, engineering teams, and prototyping environments.

The X1 features a permanent-magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) spindle with a stated rated power of 1.5 kW (S1) and a maximum speed of 24,000 rpm.

According to the manufacturer, supported materials include steel, stainless steel, titanium, aluminium, brass, copper, hardwood, acrylic, and various plastics.

Actual machining results depend on the material, cutting tool, workholding setup, and cutting parameters.

A 400 × 265 × 180 mm work area

The ToolDance X1 has a stated work envelope of 400 × 265 × 180 mm along the X, Y, and Z axes.

Its cast aluminium-alloy frame and preloaded ball-screw motion system are designed to provide the rigidity and stability required for machining operations.

The manufacturer specifies positioning repeatability of ±0.01 mm. This refers to the machine's ability to return to a position and should not be interpreted as a guaranteed dimensional tolerance for finished parts.

Automatic nine-tool changing

The machine features an automatic tool magazine with capacity for nine tools, alongside a workpiece probe and RFID-based tool identification.

This automation enables successive machining operations without manually replacing every tool. It can simplify selected prototyping and small-batch manufacturing workflows.

An expandable machining platform

The standard configuration uses three axes. Optional four-axis and five-axis modules have been announced to expand the machine's machining capabilities.

The X1 also features a fully enclosed housing with a locking door. Air blast is standard, while flood cooling and dust collection and filtration are listed as optional modules in the published specifications.

Software and machine control

ToolDance presents two complementary software tools:

  • ToolDance Studio: CAM preparation, automatic toolpath generation, and design checks.

  • ToolDance Controller: machine control.
